Following Memorial Day weekend, the main gate to the beach parking lot will remain open for members’ access. Given the restrictions at the town beaches and parks, we expect there will be a larger volume of beach-goers, particularly from outside of the HBCA community attempting to access our facilities. In order to control the volume and maintain a safe environment for our members, a gate guard will be stationed in the guard shack during peak times mid-week. Access will be restricted to members only. During normal times, the Beach is staffed with lifeguards and gate guards only on weekends until school lets out, at which time the Beach is open full time and staffed 7 days per week. Mid-week staffing during this time is an added expense during a challenging year. Our overall revenues are expected to be down mainly due to lost Casino rental income and our inability to host our normal fundraisers. Our biggest fundraiser, the Lobsterfest is still in question. Your HBCA Board of Directors is currently working hard on two main fronts:
Developing policies and operating protocols focused on maintaining a safe environment at the Beach for all our members.
Developing "New Normal" fundraisers and other creative solutions for making up lost revenue.
Our ask of our members - volunteer support is always appreciated. If you wish to help with any of our fundraising events and activities or have creative ideas, please reach out. We would love to hear from you. And as always, your membership dues are always needed and go a long way to towards allowing us to operate the Beach and properly maintain our collectively owned property.
